Period Pants Basics

Period pants look and feel like normal underwear, except you can bleed in them. Trust your pants to deal with whatever flows your vagina throws at them, without any unexpected surprises.

intimawear by Bodyform® is a range of pants designed for any flows your vagina throws at them. There's no need for any other period products as the built-in absorbent gusset is there to lock everything snugly in. However, disposable period products can be used alongside period pants for additional support, if that makes you feel more comfortable. They're also a more sustainable option for your period - just bleed, wash and repeat, wear after wear.

Given all bodies are different, we recommend following the hip measurements for each pair of pants to find the most accurate size, and the best fit. Be sure to measure your hips at their widest point.

Check the fit details of each pants' style via our size chart. The pants should fit snugly but not so tight that they become uncomfortable –– like a lovely firm hug.

If you order from us for the first time and are not satisfied with your size, you are very welcome to benefit from our 60-day money back guarantee.

Using Your Period Pants

You do you. Some people like to wear period underwear as a backup, like a soft-to-the-touch insurance policy, along with tampons or a menstrual cup.

But please know that, with our Tri-Tech technology, our pants are designed to be fully relied on –– as long as you choose the absorbency level that best works for you. There is no 'need' to wear a pad or tampon with your period pants, but if it helps make you feel comfortable, then go for it.

We tested it and there are no concerns about any issues like infections arising from wearing intimawear by Bodyform® for up to 12 hours, no matter the temperature or climate. The underwear has a breathable layer that allows the skin to breathe throughout the day, whatever you're up to.

No, it's just like wearing normal underwear.

intimawear by Bodyform® has been designed with real people’s needs in mind as we know that periods aren’t always simple or predictable. Over an average use of 12 hours, consumer tests (in France, the UK, and Colombia) showed that 90% of women did not have any accidents, spillage or leaks.

Thanks for asking! Your body and the pants will let you know when it's time for a change. You might feel it's wet or that you've used it for a long time –– but keep in mind that our pants are designed to last for up to 12 hours, depending on your flow. Every flow is different, so you do you.

Don't worry! The pants have a specialised wicking and absorbent layer that is treated with an antimicrobial odour control system - which sounds technical but basically means it prevents any smells, even if it's hot and sweaty.

Whatever your vagina throws at them – blood, discharge, after-sex flows, the in-between, the was-that-sweat? Finally, we have pants that are designed for our physiology. So, pop them on, let your body flow and let your pants do the rest. 😎

We don’t recommend swimming in your intimawear by Bodyform® pants. It won't affect the performance of the pants, but they're not designed for swimming, and would just absorb the water of the pool. Not ideal, really. Sorry to disappoint.

Our period pants for teens are definitely a great introduction to the world of period care, as they can be worn just like your regular underwear choose the perfect period pants for your teen.

Environmental Impact

Climate change is something we take very seriously, and we know that it is also important to you, our customers. 🌎

Our washable pants offer a sustainable choice of period care that has 62% less impact on the environment** - just wear, wash and repeat.

intimawear by Bodyform® reduces the carbon footprint to approximately one third that of a disposable towel and 82% less waste is produced, versus using a pair of underwear and two Ultra Towels (compared to 1 Bodyform Ultra Normal, 1 Bodyform Ultra Night and a panty made out of 50% cotton / 50% nylon).

In principle our products don’t contain substances that directly originate from animals. However, we can’t really make the claim of “vegan” for our products. This is because the supply chain for our products is very complex, and we can’t guarantee that others further up the chain haven’t come into contact with animal-based materials.

Materials We Use

Sensitive skins, rejoice: there are no perfumes or fragrances added to any of our materials. Instead, we use materials with odour-locking technology, avoiding any chemicals or nasties.

Stunning question! The pants are made from a range of polyamide, cotton and the premium material Lyocell by Lenzing, so you can choose the type of fabric and feel that best suits you. Take your pick! 👭👭 All flows are different, so we've created a range to try to suit everyone. The gusset is made from a mix of polyester, polyamide, polyurethane and esathane, depending on its absorbency level. The detailed material composition for each pair of pants can be found in each style/product description. 🔍 Pick your pair and let your body flow.

All of the gussets are designed with our brilliant TriTech technology, for absolutely worry-free flows. But the overnight gusset has been adjusted specifically for sleep, developed with your tossing and turning in mind. It's designed for all the sleep positions you could dream of: from lying on your back, or on your belly to flopping onto your sides. 💤The gusset is adjusted in length to avoid any nighttime leaks, no matter what position you sleep in. So, you can stretch your legs across the entire bed if you like. The pants won't mind, although your partner might. 🛌

Great question! Brace yourself, because this is actually pretty cool. (Or, at least, we think so.) A new material from Lenzing Company, a leading supplier of specialty fibers. TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ Lyocellis made with natural based fibers made from wood pulp derived from sustainable wood sources.

Periods are what we do. We have very high sourcing standards for our pants, and work hard to ensure an ethical and responsible supply chain. Fabric that's going to be that close to your vulva has to be the absolute crème de la crème, obviously.

The body fabric of our Essentials range of period pants is made from 100% certified organic cotton, for a pair of period pants that offers all the protection you need, with the soft, breathable and comfortable feel of cotton.

Good question. Cotton is a natural fibre, with natural features such as moisture management and softness. (Isn't it wonderful what the world produces all by itself?) Polyamide is a synthetic fibre that is already used in clothing that we are familiar with, including sportswear and swimwear. Polyamide is what makes our period pants so durable, fast-drying and contributes to the lack of odour when used. If natural is what you prefer, the body fabric in our Essentials range is made from 100% sustainably sourced organic cotton.

Product safety is a primary focus area for Essity, the company behind Bodyform. We have far-reaching procedures and standards to secure that our products are safe to use and with all relevant legislation Essity never adds PFAS intentionally into our intimawear by Bodyform® period pants products. No PFAS is added when the garments are manufactured, neither during any part of the supply chain. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large family of chemicals containing thousands of different synthetic molecules. Trace amounts of PFAS are present in the environment around us; in the air, water, and soil, hence we can never role out that small amounts can be detected also in our products. All our intimawear period pants are certified according to Oeko-Tex 100, Appendices 4 & 5, product class II, and/or tested against these criteria. They pass the limit for the PFAS substances included in the tests, see link: Downloads (oeko-tex.com)

Consumers can wear Bodyform period underwear with confidence because they are safe, sustainable and provide superior performance. Our pants contain silver copper zeolite to prevent odor when wearing the pants for up to 12-hours, which our research shows is a key concern for customers. Our collection also includes ranges that are without an antibacterial property for those who prefer an alternative.

All of our washable underwear is certified according to Oeko-Tex standard 100 which means that every single component has been tested for harmful substances and that the underwear has been designated as harmless for human health.

Caring for Your Period Pants

We tested intimawear by Bodyform® and we guarantee the same performance in excess of 50 washes for our standard period pants, and 25 washes for our Sleepwear range.

There are a few easy steps to washing your intimawearby Bodyform® period pants. Firstly, rinse them in cold water. Then, pop them in your washing machine at 40 degrees with your usual load (don't use fabric softener or bleach as this can affect the efficiency of the pants). Then simply hang to dry. We wouldn't recommend you dry clean them. For the full low-down, you can read our guide on how to care for your period underwear.

Great question. We guarantee that the pants will still work just fine after 50 washes at 40°C. (All hail mild cycles.) That's over 4 years of periods, if you have a regular flow. However, the pants can be used for much longer even though we can't absolutely guarantee the same performance after that. What we can say is that they're totally safe to use after the 50 washes. So, wash, bleed and rewash away to your heart's content. We recommend washing your period pants before first use.

Great question. If you wash the pants at 40 degrees that won't remove all the microorganisms, sadly – however (here's the good news) a wash time of 90 minutes at 40 degrees has shown a reduction of many pathogens between 99,99% and 99,99999% depending on type of organism. (The stuff you don't want is basically all gone, is what we're trying to say. See ya, organisms!)

The pants will take slightly longer to dry than your usual underwear due to the layers of materials used within the gusset. They need a little rest after all that absorption – after all, they work hard to give you a totally worry-free period. But, not to worry, hang up the pants, put the kettle on, settle into a salacious podcast, and they'll be dry and ready to roll in no time.

Our pants are not fully decomposable. But don't blame us, blame the gusset! Due to how much absorbing we need the gusset to do for us––and how comfy and secure it needs to make you feel––it's too difficult to also make it . Still, you can cut the super-absorbent gusset out, thank it for its service, and drop off the rest of the fabric at your local textile recycling bin. Wave off your fabric scraps, wishing them well for their new lives: they can be repurposed into carpet padding, car filling, insulation and more. 👋👋
