Is intimawear by Bodyform® a sustainable period product?

From using sustainably sourced materials to breaking taboos, discover how we're creating sustainable period products and driving positive change in the world.

At Bodyform, we’re passionate about creating sustainable period products that work for your flows while being conscious of protecting Mother Earth and her resources. Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for us – it’s the key to the survival of our planet. This is why we’ve created intimawear by Bodyform® reusable period pants – a sustainable alternative to single-use disposable period products.

But it’s not just about the period products we make, it’s also about the V-Zone (that is everything to do with our vagina, vulva, and the V-shaped front of our body) taboos we break and challenging existing stigmas and taboos and enabling change in society and culture. By encouraging open, honest conversations, we build a safe, welcoming space for people to talk and learn about all things V-Zones.

Curious about how we’re making a difference? We’ve got the lowdown on our priorities and what we’re doing to achieve our sustainability goals.

Our sustainability goals

Achieving net-zero emissions of greenhouse gases

Climate change is one of the most serious problems impacting the world today. As greenhouse gas emissions rise from increased human activities, they build up in the atmosphere and warm the climate bringing dangerous changes to our atmosphere, lands, and oceans.

Material sourcing and waste have the biggest impact on our carbon footprint. [1] But it doesn't have to be that way! We’re applying breakthrough technologies and new innovative circular solutions to achieve our goal of reaching net-zero emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050. [2]

And a big goal like this takes a big team effort! That is why we cooperate with suppliers, customers, consumers, governments, NGOs, experts, and industry peers to drive the change we so urgently need. As a part of this, we have joined the Science Based Targets initiative, the UN´s Race to Zero, and the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign. [3]

Using sustainably sourced materials

Our intimawear by Bodyform® period pants are manufactured using the highest quality materials. They go through rigorous checks and are created by combining advanced technologies, superior materials, and smarter design to deliver better, safer, and more environmentally conscious solutions to manage your flows.

Reducing our carbon footprint

A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide and methane) that are generated by our actions. So, from material sourcing to usage – they all contribute to a product’s carbon footprint.

To tackle this issue, we’re continually collaborating with our suppliers to develop and use planet-friendly (alternative, renewable, recyclable) materials while encouraging them to increase the use of renewable energy.

We also manufacture our period pants with lower greenhouse gas emissions, which makes them have 6 times a smaller carbon footprint compared to pads and 4 times less compared to tampons. [4] And because they’re reusable, 1 pair of intimawear by Bodyform® replaces 100 pads, which is great for waste reduction!

What makes intimawear by Bodyform® a sustainable period product?

Not only are we continuously working on our goals of net-zero emissions, using sustainable materials, and reducing our carbon footprint, but we’ve also created intimawear by Bodyform® with the environment in mind.

intimawear by Bodyform® can be used again and again after each wash, giving you a sustainable choice during your period and beyond.

To show the real positive effect of our period pants, our experts studied their environmental impact over the course of 50 period days, comparing 1 pair of intimawear by Bodyform® to:

- a pair of normal underwear made of either cotton (50%) or nylon (50%)

Sustainability and people: creating positive social impact

At Bodyform®, we understand that people’s health and well-being are also part of a sustainable life. This is why we’re always striving to open up the conversation around V-Zones and menstruation, including the changes that happen in our bodies during puberty, pregnancy, menopause, and everything in between.

In all that we do, we endeavour to remove the self-doubt, shame, and discomfort that hold women+ back, creating a world of V-Zone confidence where you can live the life you want to, fearlessly.
